Bariatric Fusion has released a watermelon flavor of their Soft Chew iron 45 mg. The iron supplement also comes in grape and cherry varieties. After weight loss surgery, ASMBS recommends 45-65 mg of supplemental iron daily due to risk of deficiency. Iron is crucial for hemoglobin production which ensures adequate oxygenation of your blood and prevents anemia. It is also needed for energy metabolism. Signs of deficiency are anemia, weakness, fatigue, headache, impaired work performance and cognitive function, pale skin, nail beds, mucous membranes, and palm creases; inability to regulate body temperature, pica. Good dietary sources of iron include red meats, fish, poultry, shellfish, eggs and legumes.
